they want to know you better, but do you know yourself well enough?
The MICA psychometric test is a mandatory, qualifying section in the MICAT.
150 questions (True/False and 8-point Likert scale) to be answered in 30 minutes.
What’s a psychometric test?
A psychometric test is a standard, scientific exam used to measure a person’s mental skills, behavior, and personality. Companies and schools use these tests to see how well a person fits a specific job or role by looking past a normal interview.
They help evaluators to:
a. identify the people best suited to a particular job
b. see if you are a good fit for their company culture
c. screen a lot of applicants without having to interview everyone
…. They ask two type of questions
TRUE OR FALSE
Simple questions about you that you can either answer as either being True or False
For example:
I enjoy meeting new people and making friends. T/F
I prefer spending time alone rather than in large groups. T/F
5 POINT LIKERT SCALE
A 5-point Likert scale is a survey rating tool with five ordered options that measures a person’s attitudes, opinions, or feelings about a statement.
Scale Structure
A standard 5-point agreement scale assigns numbers to each choice:
- 5 — Strongly Agree
- 4 — Agree
- 3 — Neutral (or Undecided)
- 2 — Disagree
- 1 — Strongly Disagree
Type of Questions:
1. I have a vivid imagination.
Give a rating between 5-1
2. I feel comfortable around people I don’t know.
Give a rating between 5-1
Important to Understand About the Psychometric Section
It is a personality evaluation, but we do not know what kind of personalities they give preference to.
You cannot pretend or fake it — they will know because inconsistencies will show up across your answers.
You also have to answer all the questions, otherwise you do not qualify.
For prep, you need to:
- Know yourself well enough.
- Have attempted questions like these before.
- Develop a sense of speed and urgency.
- And, most importantly, be willing to reflect.
Again, preparing for this process can be surprisingly revealing and self-illuminating.
Why This Is a Mandatory Workshop
This is one of the mandatory workshops in our programme because, like we say, you have to become the kind of person who goes to MICA — someone who can contribute to and absorb everything that MICA has to offer.
That foundation is built in this workshop.
We will work on understanding ourselves better, learn how to introduce ourselves effectively, and identify the lifestyle changes we may need to make to improve our chances of clearing MICAT.
The point isn’t to manufacture a personality for MICA. It is to understand yourself well enough to present an honest, consistent and thoughtful version of who you are.
